Bluebird Program

RHP Bluebird Program
Introduction to Bluebird Monitoring
Monitoring bluebird nests can increase nesting success from approximately 60% to as high as 90%. At the Preserve, our 17 bluebird nest boxes provided a safe habitat for 138 eggs in 2024, with 90 young bluebirds successfully hatched—and these numbers continue to rise each year.

During this program, participants will learn what bluebird nest monitors do, how nest monitoring is conducted, and why it plays a critical role in bluebird conservation. Following a brief hike to one of the nest boxes, participants will receive an introduction to nest box inspection and maintenance. Time will be provided for questions and discussion.
